On Thursday August 31, 2023, I traveled to Tavares, Florida for the 3rd Annual 100 Master Mason Night. This event was hosted by Leesburg Lodge No. 58; but due the fire that destroyed the Lodge a few months back, we met at Peninsular Lodge No. 85 for the event this year.
The evening event featured two prominent Florida Masonic scholars as the guest speakers. The first presentation was given by W.:B.: Daniel Molina who spoke on the “Hiramic Meditations: How Freemasonry Crafts a Stoic Lifestyle” and W.:B.: John Nagey who spoke on “Due Guards, Signs and Penalties”. Both presentations were fantastic and well received by the Brethren.
The success of a 100 Master Mason Night has been a more and more elusive achievement since the pandemic with many older Brothers still wary of being in large gatherings. The fact that hurricane Idalia came though Florida the day prior did not help things either, however; the attendance of 64 Master Masons was better than expected considering.
Traveling is an important part of Freemasonry, not only for you as an individual Brother, but for the Brethren of the Lodge hosting the event as well as the Brothers whom travel from across the state(s) to be there for an event. Take the time to stretch your cable-tow from time to time and journey out into the vast network of Lodges, you may just be surprised of what you might get out of the experience.
It’s a great day to be a Mason!
